Bridging the gap between Africa and Australia

The African and Australian baobab trees are almost identical, and yet they were separated by tectonic shifts over 100m years ago. Today baobab.international bridges the gap between African and Australasian business interests.

baobab.international sources investor-ready mineral asset projects, and partners them with international expertise and corporate finance.

If you have an asset to grow or divest, or are seeking investment opportunities, please get in touch with founder Richard Johnson, either via the contact form, or contacting Richard directly at rjohnson@baobab.international.

Partnering investor-ready mineral projects with global finance, off-take and technical partnerships

Baobab International sources investor-ready mineral asset projects, and partners them with international expertise and corporate finance. Founded in 2019 as a project generator for several Australian exploration companies, Baobab’s scope now includes corporate brokerage, tailoring mining finance solutions to individual mining project requirements, and working with partners and diverse sources of mining capital to ensure successful financing and implementation.

Amongst others, global clients and partners include junior, medium and major mining companies seeking projects and exploration opportunities, commodity traders, royalty and streaming companies, EPC and mining contractors, automakers, battery metal processors, OEMS and equipment suppliers. Baobab’s network is extensive, and is employed judiciously to optimise client outcomes.

Commodities of particular (though non-exclusive) interest include metallurgical coal, high grade iron ore, gold, copper, lithium, cobalt, nickel, uranium, 3T, graphite, REE and manganese.

    Current and recent projects include:

      • introducing strategic partners and investors to a large, private lithium-boron project in Europe
      • brokering the takeover of an Australian brownfields gold-copper project to a mid-tier African operator
      • matching off-takers and investors to an emerging Australian manganese concentrate and HPMSM developer
      • introducing an LSE-listed acquirer (currently preferred bidder) of an operational North African copper mine
      • assisting a streaming/royalty company buy a private gold mine in South Africa
      • brokering the sale of a European brownfields gold-silver project to a private operator
      • brokering the transfer of a KCB licence to an LSE junior
      • farming in Namibian lithium and copper exploration tenements to ASX listed juniors
      • evaluating and preparing the divestment of an extensive portfolio of European gold, and South American lithium brine, nitrate, industrial salt and water projects

Baobab International proudly represents its clients proactively and professionally, with integrity and discretion.

  • Critical Metals

    Securing the Supply Chain

In times of global uncertainty, forward-thinking governments seek greater assurance of critical commodity supply for industry, and greater assurance of the Environmental, Social & Governance (ESG) standards underpinning that supply. No longer content to take their chances as an end customer, some governments are recognising the need to get involved earlier in the mining life-cycle, and have created new initiatives in which government-backed debt may be provided to qualified projects boasting critical metals & minerals, offtake of which is secured by the lender's national industry. Favoured projects operate in Tier-1 jurisdictions, and we place a special focus on an Australian connection.

'Critical commodities' include iron ore, vanadium, tungsten, titanium, copper, manganese, tantalum, graphite, molybdenum, nickel, lithium, bauxite, niobium, PGMs, Rare earth materials and more.
